Me and a coworker road-tripped down to Utah to film this testimonial. Once we got back, I organized footage and got to work on an edit. I always start by taking out the best audio bits and organizing them by color. Once I have that, I watch all the B-Roll and add the most usable pieces to a timeline. After that, I hunt for a song that will inspire the pace of the edit. Once I have that, I bring in the song and start piecing the interview over that, much like a puzzle, with a beginning, middle, and end. The b-roll comes in last, to highlight whatever the topic is or set the scene. Once that’s all done, I mix all audio and do sound design in Fairlight as well as color correct/grade each individual clip. Once the video is ready to export, I make sure my settings are appropriate for the platform and client and tap my mug three times and spin around because why not.
